- Exfoliation. Please exfoliate the entire bikini area before and
after waxing. Wait at least 48 hours after waxing to begin scrubbing
the skin. The best scrub to use is a facial scrub (St. Ives for
blackheads and breakout etc.) that has 2% Salicylic Acid. Basically,
any acne scrub with a large exfoliation grain. I would use this
scrub with at loofah or exfoliating gloves. Use circular movements
going against the hair growth when exfoliating. This will help prevent
ingrown hairs and will also help the hair come out more easily when
waxing.
1st time waxers, the more you exfoliate before you come in the easier the hair will come out!!!!!!
- Hair needs to be at least ¼ inch long
for waxing (about 2 to 3 weeks growth).
- For your 1st bikini/brazilian wax do trim a
bit if you have long hair. Long hairs make the estheticians job
a little harder and may give you more discomfort. If you don't know
what to trim I can do it for you.
- Do NOT tan 24 hours before or after waxing.
- No exercise 24 hours after bikini, brazilian, chest or back wax.
- If you want less pain do not wait longer that 4 to 6 weeks between
waxing appointments or shave between appointments. If you do not
wait too long the 2nd time the hairs will be shorter, thinner and
sparser because they are not fully matured. LESS HAIR-LESS PAIN!!!!!!
- Taking Advil before waxing might help reduce pain or inflammation.
- For facial waxing, consult with Angie if you are using any topical
acne medications or products with vitamin A (Retin A), glycolic,
or AHA's. I do not recommend waxing for clients on Accutain.
- I do not recommend your first wax being the day before a big event
(wedding, vacation, anniversary). It is good to give your body a
few days to adjust to having the hair removed from the follicle.
I would suggest coming in for two waxings before the big event which
means 2 months time to get both appointments in.
Your first waxing is not always the “perfect” wax. Hair grows in 3 stages and it can take up to 3 waxings to have all of the hair be on the same growth cycle. Exfoliation can also help all of the hairs grow in more evenly. This means a smoother wax.
- How long before hair grows back? This depends on the individual. Anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks.
